Well, my 4 year old doesn't seem to understand the concept "Wait a minute." I am praying for that to come quickly.
OP, do you work with an OT or ST? Does your kid go to an SN school or have an SN teacher? I would start there for strategies.
Some meds also can cause tics, so the repetition could be due to that.

My DS is 7. Has a chromosonal disorder that results in mild intellectually disability, significant speech and oral motor issues, physical motor delays. And DS has ADHD (just the ADD part, not the HD by the grace of God).
So developmentally he's like a 5 year old.
It's a constant, constant battle with him. And he's on meds! He's constantly repeating and shouting things at me: "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" "I am thirtsty! I am hungry! I am tired!" Repeated a 1,000 times. It's like he doesn't hear me respond until I either shout or I grab him and get in his face. He has regular melt downs. Said "you are mean! You are a poopy head (or whatever)!" constantly whenever I tell him no or tell him to wait his turn.
Please tell me this is part of a phase -- maybe a realy, reallly long one -- but that it ends. That this is something ADHD kids do because they cannot focus or cannot "hear" you through whatever is constantly a buzz in their brains.
In terms of behavior modification, when he calls names we do time outs. And that does help. But you have to be white on rice with it all day every day. I have 2 other small children!
I feel bad for my guy. I know he doesn't want to be annoying or irritating or rude. I just think it's a giant mess of lack of impulse control, the constant buzz in his brain (my words), frustration with not being able to express feelings, and jealously with his younger brother (a baby).
This really sucks. But what can we do? Just live through it? When doesthis stop?
