The LA bus picks up AAP kids on our street, and we are within the walking zone of Westbriar. So I know that bus currently exists. I don't know what they will do next year though.

Attended the Westbriar orientation yesterday. Question was asked about bus pickup from SACC of the base schools which they couldn't answer. I just called the transportation office and they said they won't have that answer until July. So we will have to make our decision without knowing if they will able to be picked up from their base school. Great......

No, the AAP Center busses have bus stops through the neighborhoods, not neccessarily the same ones - it is determined by where the studetns are. Some do stop at the ES for children who go to SACC at their home school.

There is some speculation that there is a push for the 2013-/2014 year to do it before the new Superintendent arrives.

Really?!? I did not realize this gained any sort of momentum. With the Board of Supervisors decision about the amount of the school transfer, do you think the high school start times have any chance of shifting?

(And yes, I realize this is all pretty much conjecture.)

Bussing is generally provided to your neighborhood school's assigned AAP Center School. In some cases, eg Louis Archer and Haycock, AAP enrollment is closed to new students in 4-6. THose children can go to a different AAP Center school, but bussing is usually not provided.

The bus time is dependent on the start time of the AAP Center school. Haycock starts late, so its bus comes after the earlier opening Es schools and about the same time for the late starting ones. If your home school is a late starting school and your AAP Center is an early stating school, then the bus would come much earlier than the neighborhood school.

The start times may change anyway next year since the school board is looking to change the start times for the High Schools and that could mean earlier start times for the elementary schools.

No idea, but I was wondering about this issue as well.

The kids walk barefoot in the snow! They are so driven to be in the AAP program.

Can someone explain to me how the transportation works to/from AAP Centers? Do kids get picked up from their neighborhoods? Do they have to get their own transportation to the Center? To the local school?

Are bus times ridiculously early?

Is it different if you have local level IV and "opt" for the Center?

Can anyone tell me how this works for Louise Archer (if it's different by school).
