Not necessarily:

Well, dinkus, then you'd be eating potatoes b/c they were grinding up tubers--gasp into flour.

BTW, french fries are empty calories, a baked potato is healthy.

and PP, who didn't know what "jinkies" please watch some Scooby Doo and report back.

You don't get to claim that this is just the way you eat, jinkies, what's the big deal? if you insist on using the P word.

"What do you do about the stuff you don't want in your CSA box?" would be a nonsmug question.

"I'm thin and pure and awesome!" gets you mocked. Or skewered on an stone-tipped spear.

Is paleo/primal such a hot button topic that it has to be referred to in first initial only? I am new to the board, so not aware of such sensitivities but still, this reaction seems a little bizarre.

And what's a jinky?

That's helpful, thanks! Yah, I thought asking people directly might be a bit rude. Extra box sounds good - I'll ask.

In my experience, many people don't like greens or get sick of them, while stuff like corn and potatoes are more popular. So if there is a trading system, it should work well for you.

I suggest you fill your subaru with weapons, drive out to Virginia, and claim a few acres of your new hunting and foraging grounds.

LOL I thought the same thing when I read OP's post. Puh-lease.

Yes, yes I realize the justifications proponents of primal/paleo diets offer are rather silly and I too laughed at the Darwinian theories. Going paleo was certainly not my idea but I went along to be supportive and as it turns out, skipping the empty calories offered by rice, wheat, and other starchy roots has improved my quality of life. So you can make fun of the spears and loin cloths, but I'm enjoying the extra energy boost I get from stable blood sugar levels and being the thinnest I've ever been, even after a baby.

Had to google mizuna - looks great! Thanks, that sounds easy enough. We are new to shares - would we just ask the others at the pick up site if they'd like to swap? Is that proper farm share etiquette?

Our farm share actually doesn't do many potatoes and corn, OP, so I think look at some others. Yes, they might be in the list of "crops we grow" but both have short harvest seasons and are land intensive. You'll be getting many more tomatoes, kale, and a sea of other random greens. Just trade your corn for someone else's mizuna - you'll both be thrilled.

We keep a primal (adapted version of paleo) diet in our home and are interested in a farm share, which should be easy enough - meat & veggies are the foundation of our diet, BUT plenty of these shares seem to offer up a lot of white potatoes & corn, which we wouldn't use. Any suggestions?
