I've heard numerous stories of wrong drug being dispensed. I think it happens a lot. So, examine carefully.

I hadn't opened the bag, but if I had, I would have known not to take it. The name on the bottle was not mine, and the pill shape/size was completely different.

These kind of mistakes worry me though. I think about someone who's eyesight isn't very good and if the pill is similar they might be taking heart medicine for a liver condition.

Or more likely, someone who is taking the medicine for the first time, and wouldn't be expected to recognize the pill.

Since you said Lyon village..might I make a suggestion for future. Use Preston's...their hours aren't the best but they are above and beyond the most professional pharmacy I have ever dealt with. They actually questioned a script from our doc as being too much for my son's age..turns out they were right..they forever have my business.

I would contact the manager as well as CVS corporate. I had the same thing happen. CVS gave me the wrong prescription. I had them refund me my money and then took my prescription over to another pharmacy.

I had a similar issue at another CVS and the manager called me to follow up the next day.

I have gotten the wrong prescription at Belle Haven. Please call CVS corporate and report this. I did this re Belle Haven and got a call from the pharmacy manager in the region who took this very seriously.

Are you by any chance talking about the CVS in Belle Haven (Alexandria)? I'ver heard a couple stories about them giving the wrong prescription.

Rxs are supposed to be filled by 1 staff member and then checked by another to ensure correct medicine, dosage, amount, etc. CVS blew it.

I'm sorry-wrong eye drops.

Thanks for your feedback.

Report it to your state board of pharmacy. They track medication errors on many levels. If its Maryland, I believe the pharmacy is supposed to self report as well.

I am the OP of the thread " dr describes antibiotics with negative strep test". I have another question. My daughter (3) had a lot of puss is her eyes ( I know, gross) and was prescribed eye drops as well as the antibiotics. I got a call from CVS the next day, after she had already had 4 doses, that I was given the wrong prescription. The pharmacist said the one she gave me wasn't that different but tat it was wrong. She even offered to drop the correct prescription off at my house.
Is there a process. Whereby such errors can be reported? Mistakes such as this one can be fatal with the wrong type of medication and I want to ensure that CVS is on top of errors like this.

Thanks
