I'm sure you won't feel confortable sharing, but if you would say the school, I'd love to know. We're considering moving DC to private and I'd hate to waste money on a school that was not even as good as FCPS.

OP here. Thanks to those with recommendations. I'll see what we can do.

We are making up at home what isn't happening in the classroom. I agree it's not worth paying for, hence the interest in moving DC.

You are paying for private school that isn't teaching math and writing... Why are you paying for that. Figure out your fcps school , call make an appt. and go register or takes tour. If you decide to enroll then ask the school about AAP. If you are in fairfax county then it's too late for the 2013-14 school year. But if your child isn't even learning grade level math and writing.. Then at this point aap isnt appropriate amywAy.

Historically, a 97 percentile on the WISC is borderline for AAP/GT classes. It would require additional test scores and classroom work.

You'll have to forgive some of the responses. Because boards like these have such voluminous queries about AAP, it is easy to think you need to be guided through it. Truth is, you can find most of what you need to know on the FCPS website under Advanced Academic Programs -- there are also school-based orientations for parents when your kids are in the lower grades. Most of the psychologists I've seen mentioned here, both private and with George Mason have ample experience with the AAP process and AAP parents. Good luck, but don't worry.

Agreed. If you need an educational consultant to get your kid in this program there is a problem.
