I've sprayed vinegar on patio and plants the day of event, which seems to help. Also, you can google a homemade garlic spray to use. Also, get a fan. Citronella candles around your perimeter.

Dumping standing water and encouraging neighbors do the same. Keeping gutters clear helps.

I understand that the mosquito control companies spray poison that kills bees. (I understand that the poison confuses -causes some brain damage?- and the bees cannot find their way to the hive). Since we are already having a problem with our bee population and we depend on bees, I would like to go the natural route to control these little biters. I know about mosquito dunks for standing water (which we put inside the bottom of our basketball goal). Does anyone have any other ideas, including plants or anything else?
