so you couldn't answer op without a poorly concealed jab?

What part about my response indicated an attempt to conceal it?

She's hooked on drugs. That's really, really sad.

You sound like you get a high from it. "It's gone in 30 minutes." Mix the Xanax with sugar pills and trust me, you won't know the difference and like a miracle, it will be gone in 30 minutes even with the sugar pills. It's all in your mind. Find other non drug related coping mechanisms for your anxiety. Find the root of your problem versus suppressing the symptoms with a drug.

Xanax gets a bad rap because it deserves one. It works fast and furiously as mother's little helper, but will rob you of your life. Please see if you can find other ways of dealing with nervous feelings.

I think Xanax gets a bad rap because of all the people that get addicted to it.

I suffer from anxiety issues on a regular basis, and have considered asking my doc for a prescription for Xanax. But it has such a bad rep that I don't know how he would react.

IS there a way to take Xanax responsibly? Is it not intended for every day use?

Well to be fair if you are taking Xanax every day it either is going to be a problem for you or it already is.

OP,

It sounds like you took the meds the way your doctor described with good results. Are you afraid of taking too much Xanax or that you're not talking them they way he specified?

Definitely check in and make sure that you have it straight and also a sense of how long you would be taking the Xanax.

(I've never taken it--does it make you feel chill? Just curious.)

I will sometimes take ativan and i do so sparingly so I won;t become dependent. I went through a tough time and ended up taking it every day for a few months and then I had to wean off of it. It was a lifesaver at the time but I want to avoid that situation in the future.

I'm guessing that the doctor prescribed the xanax to tide you over until the antidepressant reached a therapeutic level. This is a common practice and there's nothing wrong with it but you have to see it as temporary. The goal is to reach the right dose of the antidepressant so you don't need the xanax.

On and off for a dozen years I have suffered from anxiety attacks. About 8 months ago they came back in force and frequency. A new doctor prescribed an antidepressant and Xanax (prescription was for up to twice a day as needed).

I don't take the Xanax everyday but when anxiety flares I take one and it's *gone* in 30 minutes and I'm calm and level-headed for the rest of the day. It's amazing.

Is this dangerous? I'm going back to my doctor in a couple weeks to discuss but in the meantime is anyone else like me?
