I never rinse rice, but didn't know about the arsenic. Yikes.

Basmati is the only rice I rinse, because it turns out nicer if you wash off some of the starch. The water turns milky white.

Long grain rice doesn't do that. So I don't rinse it.

11:15, fyi, many recipes call for rinsing rice in preparation not necessarily to rinse off impurities.

OP, try not rinsing. If the rice comes out okay the way you like to prepare, then you've saved yourself a step. If not, you're back to rinsing or maybe trying a different method of making rice.

Yeah, american rice is saturated with arsenic. No amount of rinsing is ever going to remove the result of decades of heavy metal and arsenic saturation in US rice fields. This means ALL rice products, INCLUDING ORGANIC:

I never rinse my bulk rice. I like it somewhat sticky.

I just put it in a fine mesh strainer and give a quick cold water rinse. I was appalled at the white dust that came off some basmati once and decided that it was worth the 30 seconds to rinse.

I'm a bit embarrassed to have to ask this, but are there any bulk rices that don't have to be rinsed before cooking? I. Hate. Rinsing. Rice. Totally ridiculous and irrational but it drives me crazy enough that I buy the "Texmati" stuff that doesn't need to be rinsed. Alternatively, any suggestions for a foolproof rinsing method?
