Match if it's an exact match. Otherwise, make it very different because "close" doesn't look good.

We are in the process of refinishing our cabin's cedar siding and two story deck and are debating whether we should match the deck to the house- I *think* that's the right approach, especially since the second story deck is connected to the house and it might look disconnected if we change up the colors. Thoughts?

FWIW we are going to choose one of the Sherwin-WIlliams solid stains (the old wood is too weathered for a transparent stain):
