This is OP. Thanks for your response. Can I ask if you how much your income has ranged over the past three or four years? I've had wild swings and never replaced what I made in corporate America. Even when my revenues finally picked up, I ended up with a lot of expense for bringing in partners/subcontractors/staff to help satisfy client demand.

I can't imagine going back. I'm a marketing consultant (going on 20 years) and am typing this in my dining room in my pajamas (early conference call and I have dinner plans, so figured I'd just shower and get dressed later).

Whenever I have to be in a corporate office, I am reminded of all the reasons I could never stand to go back. Cubicles, meetings after meetings after meetings. Co workers! Lunch breaks? 2 weeks of vacation?????

Think carefully, OP. No released prisoner ever thinks "You know, it really wasn't that bad inside...."

Just looking for some advice from others who have made the transition from consulting back to a "regular job" in DC or close-in burbs.
Any issues you wish you had considered earlier? Are you happy you made the switch back, or do you regret it?
I know it's a case of "the grass is always greener..." nothing is perfect in either scenario. Sorry to be so vague, but maybe we can get a (civil) discussion going here. Thanks!
