There is no helping some of you people. Kids are so much smarter than we give them credit for. There is nothing in this movie that a 5 to can't handle with some parental explanation. This is true of nearly every kids movie.

I'm with OP. I'd rather get a review from other parents than have to watch an entire movie myself before my child sees it. It's a better use of OP's time to come here than spend two hours unnecessarily. And I for one am glad OP asked because I don't want my children to have a negative view of adoption either.

Well, I'm sorry, but your adoptive parent friends are reading something into the movie based on their own experiences and personal sensitivities that just isn't there. An evil hag who kidnaps a baby is not an adoptive mother, and there is no way to read the story otherwise. End of discussion. Make your own assessments; stop relying on totally unfounded heresy from others to make basic parenting decisions.

OP, I'm an adoptive mom too, with a 5 yo DD, and I have not seen the movie. Why don't you just view it yourself first and then make a decision? I'd advise you one way or another, but sorry, as I mentioned, I haven't seen it yet either.

PS If you do see it and form an opinion, please post back b/c I'd like to know!

I'm debating whether to let my almost 5 year old daughter watch this movie, which I've heard is very cute. I understand there's an adoption/"real mother" storyline- is there any reason why I shouldn't let her (adopted as a baby) watch this?
