If you decide to put him to sleep, you need to be there with him. That is your responsibility.

Don't do this. I'm the first PP telling you to put the dog down, and I still think that's your only, but if you love your dog do right by him and make sure he's comfortable in his last moments. Aggression like this isn't the dog's fault. He's just acting on his instincts. Don't punish him by taking him to animal and letting him spend his last hours confused and scared. Take him to the vet, or call one of those vets that comes to your house.

Put him down, for his own sake. If he's this aggressive, he's afraid, and who wants to make a dog live in fear?

I have owned 3 Rottweilers, and this type of sharp, nervy behavior is not typical for the breed. They are supposed to have a confident, "wait and see" attitude towards strangers. This behavior in such a large, powerful dog is very, very dangerous. I would not own such a dog, nor would I pawn my problem off on someone else. It sounds like this dog has a screw loose, and the only responsible and kind decision to have the dog euthanized.

I would have the dog put down. DH was bit by a neighbor's dog like this and that family is damn lucky it wasn't me or one of our kids.

Yes, not worth the risk. People love their dogs, but there is no point in waiting until a tragic incident to happen before putting the dog down. It's difficult, but the responsible thing to do.

We had an issue with an aggressive dog - never bit anyone, but it was an accident waiting to happen. We did everything we could - training, drugs, neurologists, etc. At the end of the day, we had to put the pup to sleep. It was very sad, as the dog had been previously abused, but there was nothing we could do. It would have been much sadder had he caused injury to a human or other animal though.

I would have the dog put down. What you are describing is a tragedy waiting to happen. A child in our family was seriously mauled, require multiple surgeries and 100's a stitches, by a dog that got away from its owner and into her yard. The whole thing happened in a blink of an eye, and if the owner hadn't jumped the fence and pulled the dog off she would be dead.

If your 90lb Rottweiler mix dog has a history of biting adults, lunging at/attempting to bite young children and other dogs in a neighborhood full of children and dogs, what would you do? What if you've tried every kind of training possible with no success and animal control has been informed of the animal's aggression/biting?
