Since many of us "Moms" have been managers for these soccer teams, we actually have some knowledge on the subject.

Our club estimates for budgeting purposes $125/session for training a team - that's $250 a week if practices are twice a week. That would be for a group of 15-20 players. For private training for our U16 player, a top-ranked local player who plays at national/regional level, it's $80 - $100/hour.

Also... coaches spend tons of time outside of the practice and game times corresponding with parents, players, club administration, other club teams, and doing other administrative stuff. Honestly, DH probably spends as much time doing this as he does actually "coaching". There is a lot of drama in coaching... egos between coaches, helicopter parents to deal with, etc.

DH coaches a club team to generate some extra income for our household.

If it's a formalized "club" team, not something through the rec center, then yes, the coaches are paid. They are not volunteering for this out of the goodness of their hearts. The coaches often have to maintain certifications and such that require 40-80 hours of training every 2-3 years or so, and have years of experience playing and coaching. That experience and certification costs money.

My recollection is a common fee was around $3000 for the season for a classic coach, you can probably pay a bit less or a bit more depending on hours and qualifications but that seemed to be a general going rate from some of the organizations that provide coaches.

Our travel soccer club fees are $500 2x a year. I think we have 14 players. We have a fall and sping season, practice 3x a week during the season and during the off season practice 2x a week, with a month break mid december to mid Jan. I'm not sure how much our coach is paid out of those fees but we are talking about increasing our club fees to $700 2x a year. For a U13 (next season we move up to U14) travel coach we feel he is a bit uderpaid.

It's $6,750, not $67,500. What's your billable?

This is the OP. Our team is a classic team, too. My guess is that the PP who wrote that her/his child's team was $450/kid included the MSI team fees, too.

As for number of days/week our classic team practices, it is 2-3/week with one game day.

You might have better luck posting in the sports forum, but I seriously thought coaches volunteered. No idea they got paid except at the high school level, and then by the school.

I'm in a position to have to decide how much to pay my child's soccer team's coach for next season. This involves approx. three months of 2-3 times/week practices and 1 game/week. If you know the pay your child's coach receives, could you pass along the rate? I'm trying to get a sense of the "going rate" in this area before making a decision. Thank you!
