A good tip to finding a mate is to avoid the fair skinned women and go for darker skinned because they won't age.

Given that it could kill you, I'd suggest don't do it.
Just go read some of the melanoma forums. Or ask any old person on the street if they've had to have benign skin cancers (basal cell carcinomas) or other such things removed. You're kidding yourself if you think it won't happen to you.

When I was 12 a new family moved in across the street from mine. The mom was about 50, same age as mine. The first time we met her she scared the living hell out of my siblings and me- her face looked like it was melting off. Loose skin like a 90 year old. It turns out she had tanned with iodine on her skin for years (it's a thing- google it). I'm glad most people are smarter than that now.

There's a lady near my office that tans herself every day from May - Sept. She has a certain bench all picked out and rolls up her sleeves, pulls back her hair, etc.
I swear that in the 6 years we've been here she's aged 15. She looks awful. She has my lily white complexion naturally and is starting to really look leathery. I always want to say something but really it wouldn't change, so I just MMOB.
I stopped trying to "get tan" in 7th grade. My dad pulled me aside and told me to look at the difference between my grandmother's face and her identical twin sister's. Eegads. It was shocking, as one had gone forever in the sun and one had not. "That's the sun," he said. I was done.

My holy grail is a sunless tanner for sensitive skin. Until I find it I will stay lily white- my future self will thank me!

I grew up on the beach (yes, literally) and never wore sunscreen except on my face. Now I don't go outside without at least 25 on my face (in moisturizer) and when I'm home visiting family I wear at least 30 on my body, plus hats, sunglasses, and cover up when I can. I still get tan, but it's not intentional. My derm says I've got good skin, luckily, but it's still not worth it.

I guess now that so many people on here are from locales like Topeka and Tacoma, and not the District, there will actually be some who admit to baking their skin. Maybe they still smoke, too!

Never. Starting taking care of myself at a very young age.
The sun is just too damaging.
I am 41 and my own doctor yesterday said something along the lines of "at 34 you need to start doing this and that..." and quite honestly made my day!!! (I did correct her

If so, do you worry about it further aging your skin? What do you do to try to counter the effects? Most anti-aging products also increase sun sensitivity.
