I use both names on my resume & reference list -- so "Sally Jones Smith", but everywhere else I just go by "Sally Smith". And as PP mentioned, you should be in touch with your references when you're interviewing so that they can be ready to take calls from prospective employers.

I provide that information when I give my references. I usually say something like "Employed at Xxx as Jennifer McDougall". Never been an issue. I also keep in touch with people so they know my current name.

Subject: Resume question
I'm recently married and have taken my husband's last name. My two former jobs were under my maiden name. Should I somehow say this in my resume? I'm afraid they will call my former employers, ask about me, and be told, "she never worked here."
