At least you know you shouldn't have done it. A lot of idiots do it and think it's their right to do so. Just don't do it again because it will further damage your reputation.

I really try not to get into talking crap and gossiping, but for some reason I was vulnerable today and I went off about one work colleague to another work colleague. I basically went through a whole bunch of messed up stuff that the one colleague had done to me over the years, from undermining my work at meetings, to sending emails criticizing me, to criticizing me to my face, and I said, "X is a fine person on a superficial level, but over the years he has attacked me so many times that I do not consider him to be a friend or ally."

I am really embarrassed by my behavior. I really try not to talk trash. Worse yet, I know that I cannot "take back" what I have done. The person who I told is a gossip herself and not really a great friend, so I can assume that she will either spread around what I said or at a minimum remember it for a long, long time and use it against me at some point.

What a big mistake. Hope it doesn't come back to bite me.
