New York is is great place to be at, but considering you all aspect , I would say that Florida is a better option.

Denver is young and vibrant. Austin TX is another option.

But again, you need to know you can find a job -- at minimum, go on Craiglist for the various cities you're considering. Also check out shared housing -- probably makes sense to start by rooming with someone.

Seattle is AWESOME! People are smart and, for the most part, nice.

Florida = icky.

California = big state! No single way to describe it.

New York = you mean NYC? Hah! Expensive!

Consider Portland, OR!!! Don't let the rain scare ya. But it will be expensive to travel back home...

I thought about Atlanta but the job market is terrible down there. Do you mind telling me a little more about Philly, Seattle, and Detroit.

With affordable living as a priority, cross NYC and CA off your list (spoken from someone who lived in NYC from age 22 to 29). FL could be a good option. Also consider other major metropolitan areas with lots of young people but that are still very affordable: Philly, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, etc.

However, in the current economy I'd secure a job first and move second -- not the other way around.

I'm 23, no kids, not very close to my family and ready for a new start. I'm from the DC area (Damascus and Silver Spring) I've never really loved it out here and have always wanted to move out of state. The only thing is I've never had the balls to just get up and do it. I feel like its too expensive for area I hate and if I'm going to pay money a lot of money I'd rather move elsewhere.

States I'm considering-

-New York
-California
-Florida

Things that would be important to me-

- Affordable living, I'm totally open to roommates by myself I can afford about $800 a month give or take.
- Living close to people my age
- Nightlife
- Close metro access (I don't drive at the momment and can work crazy hours)
- Also I'd be working as a nanny

Some questions I have are-

Which place wold be better for me to move and what cities are good to look in? Like with NYC would it be Queens??
What would be the best way for planning out this move? Safe up, Go there, Rent a room weekly, Looks for job, more permanent place and roomies???
When looking for the places how can I find a good real estate agent for rentals??
