I have two kids - 6 and 3. I found myself doing the exact same thing ... throwing this and that into my mouth as I fed them. I started eating Paleo, which for me, is easier than going gluten-free. When I tried to eat GF, I would look for subsititutes -- on Paleo, it's so much harder. It took my a good 2 weeks to adjust to Paleo and now it's easy. I still cook clean meals for my family, but I'll skip the grain that I serve to them.

Cut the carbs, ditch wheat/gluten completely, and start lifting. You need muscle mass that is metabolically active in a good way.

Ten yrs ago I lost 20 pounds and have kept it off successfully. (have kids now so I've had periods of needing to loose again but have always been able to get back to my "goal" weight). Lately I've had an incrediablely hard time maintaining my weight. Ill gain 4, take 3 off, gain 2 ect. I really seem to be struggling with snacks. My kids are at ages (18 months, 3, 5) where they need constant snacks and I find myself finishing them up as I clear plates and bowls throughout the day. I know that half of a bananna, 1/4 of string cheese and 6 goldfish aren't free calories and they all add up. Just wondering if anyone else has had a hard time with the same type of snacking and if you have any advice! Thanks!
