There are "Vacant House," "Bank Winterization" and "Do not trespass by order of the Alexandria police" notices all over the front door. Taped to the left front window, there are several City of Alexandria work permits dating back 9 or 10 years. Looking in the right front window, it appears that whoever was there literally sprinted out of house in the middle of a renovation, as if there lives depended on it; tools and a ladder rest on the floor next to a pile of trash, and various building materials sit boxed up in the kitchen.

Yet, on the city website, it shows the taxes being up to date and the title still being held in the name of the original purchasers. I would have expected to see a bank's name here, since Bank of America has been paying a company to winterize it.

I have no idea who's maintaining the lawn. Sometime last year, it was getting really overgrown and looked like a jungle, so I wrote the city and just like magic, someone came and and cleaned up all the excess brush within 24 hours.

The signs are most likely fake put up by the crazy homeowner who is hunkered down in some underground shaft they built because they decided they don't like people.

Ok, I don't know that for sure except for the signs. I lived next to a crazy before and weird signs like that were all over the house but the house was well maintained. They eventually had to cart the homeowner off to a home and the house was sold.

The land is probably worth a million in there yet apparently the absentee owner just won't sell.

That's a shame. It could be a really cute house to live in if someone bought it and fixed it up a bit.

+1 I walk by this one every day - I do hope someone fixes it up (and does NOT tear down).

No way- take a close look next time you walk by, no maintenance in years and squatters living inside. If it sells it will be short for this world.

We live within a couple of miles of this property and end up walking by it quite often, and we always wonder what's going on with it. It appears to have been abandoned for at least 3 or 4 years.
