I posted this on the JCP thread, but I really like the Sonoma v-necks from Kohls: flattering cut and substantial, soft material. If you need a little more room in the body, the St John's Bay shirts from JC Penny are a bit straighter cut without being boxy.

To the PPs who liked the h&M tanks, can you tell me what line it is?
I was just at target and did not see thick tanks. Are they ribbed? What kind of straps?
I will check the gap.

+1 The Essential Ts are nice and thick--they're a staple in my summer wardrobe. Last year they had a lot of stretch and ran small, so I sized up. Sized up again this year but it looks like they have less stretch and a size up is too baggy. I think they have free shipping and returns, so try one in both sizes.

Avoid Old Navy--I got two tanks on sale online. They're paper thin but not worth the cost to return them. I can only wear them under things lest I show my under things to everyone at the playground.

Target carries the LG brand in their active wear section. Usually the colors are horrendous, but occasionally they have good staples like black, white, grey, light blue, etc. They have good coverage, are cut pretty close to the body without being tight, and yes, they are the perfect thickness for ultimate bulge cover. They are the plain cotton ones, not the poly wicking fabrics. They are also inexpensive so while I have a few that I wear with jeans on the weekends, I also have quite a few for working out.

Otherwise, agree with Lands End. In general, vendors catering to an older buyer-- Clearwater Creek?

I also got good ones at H&M this year.

I received a t-shirt as a gift, that is the perfect length, thinkness and it is slimming (without being tight, I think it's the cut). It's a Katydid shirt. Unfortunately I don't think they sell plain t's. Mine is an awareness T-shirt.

PP, I also want to know the answer to this burning question. These days everything is so thin it's ridiculous!

Not the tissue thin ones I see everywhere that point to every unflattering bulge?? I like a nice ribbed tank that's a good thick material and tshirts too. Where do I go?
