Exactly. I am the PP who uses work phone for both because keeping2 was too much of a hassle. I never use my work email for personal use and vice versa. This is very easy to do on the iPhone.

I have a blackberry for work and keep things separate. I like it better that way. It also means that when I am not available to work, I can truly leave it behind.

I'd be concerned about privacy, as another person posted. I've seen too many discovery requests for people's personal emails or computers because they used them for work. Wouldn't want that to be me.

Depends on the kind of job this is. Mine is sort of 24-7 availability, and everyone uses their work phone for personal use (there's no limit on texting, data, etc). It became more of a hassle to have my personal phone (it was never charged, no one called me on it etc.).

I think it's more of a pain to have to check 2 separate devices.

I've had both and prefer it separate. When I didn't want to deal with work, I turned off the BB. Now I have work email on my personal iPhone and I see emails come in at all hours of the day and night, when I'm at the park with my kid, etc. I know I should ignore them, but it's hard when you see the unread mail piling up.

You just get the good app on your Iphone. It is great - secure email and one device.

OP here and yes, I agree, but that is not an option. I think I may go with the Blackberry because that is what I have always had.

I would be cautious.

An employee in my company was laid off and threatened legal action. Because I had worked with this person, the company took a forensic image of my hard drive, in case there was any evidence that might be pertinent to a potential lawsuit.

If your employer is paying for your personal cell, what are your privacy rights on that machine? Could they for instance image it, request to keep it in their possession, access information about your use? And if so, would they have the ability to access your personal information, too?

I like to keep my work and personal stuff separate, but my husband has both on the same phone. His office pays for his phone, though---no way I'd use my personal phone for work unless they were paying for it.

I use the same and the only disadvantage i see is that it makes me very nervous to hand off my iphone to my toddlers. I dont want them to accidentally email anyone i work with.

Starting a new job next week and they just asked me if I wanted a Blackberry or if I wanted them to set up my personal iPhone to get my work e-mail and then I'd obviously use that number as my work cell, too. I've always had a separate Blackberry for work but this sounds intriguing. Can anyone who has had both tell me which they prefer?
