If you aren't gone already, there's a technique from America's Test Kitchen: make a super flavorful sauce (vinegar, minced garlic, pepperoncini juice) and pour half of it on the hot pasta, cool and dress with the rest of the sauce, plus mayo. It's incredibly flavorful.

Also, not for the tri-color, but Hawaiian Macaroni Salad looks good. Not that I've ever gotten around to trying it.

I'm a fan of feta in pasta salads. Definitely the cherry tomatoes, basil, olives, maybe some kind of meat - the mini pepperoni slices are good.

I do tri colored rotini, feta, halved cherry tomatoes, black olives, chopped yellow and green pepper, Italian salad dressing. Love all the colors.

I like simple pasta salads. With tri-color rotini, I'd add cubed fresh mozarella, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped fresh basil and dress with balsamic vinegar, evoo , salt/pepper.

I have to bring a large pasta salad to a get together. I don't want to bring the standard macaroni picnic salad. I have three color rotini pasta. Any suggestions?
