Received letter for Campbell today.

I called ATS yesterday. The lottery isn't until Monday the 22d. We are supposed to hear by May first.

No ATS letter yet. We are a sibling family with a rising K so we have priority enrollment but I would assume we would still get a letter (and we have not).

It might be faster now, but for ATS back in 2011, we received the official letter on May 2. I called ATS before that, after a friend told me that she was able find out over the phone. Pretty sure I called about a week after the lottery.

So did everyone hear about ATS, etc already?

We are zoned for Taylor and DC is currently a Kindergartner at ASFS. We received our letter in early May 2012 letting us know DC was wait listed (we were #4 on the waitlist, if I remember correctly). We called the office and were told that they usually only take 1-2 families from Taylor/Jamestown so we shouldn't expect to get in. In early June, we were offered a spot. I know the child who was #7 on the waitlist was also offered a spot (in August, I believe), but the family who was #13 on the waitlist didn't, so I'm not sure how far down the wait list they got.....

I think the reason you haven't heard an answer to your specific question is b/c those people are don't exist.

When I went to the school tour for ASFS, the principal and PTA pres said that there was the possibility of accepting transfers. How many spots exactly they didn't know and wouldn't estimate. It sounds like the odds are slim but not non-existent

I'm just looking for information on how long their decision-making process takes once the deadline has passed. Will they notify parents in a few days, a few weeks? etc. For people who've gone through the process, what was their experience?

Maybe OP will get lucky and benefit from the pressure on ASFS to prove that they DO still accept transfers.

The ASFS PTA president showed up at several More Seats meetings and claimed that they were accepting transfers.

If you're trying to transfer in from one of the team schools, you won't be admitted. They're full.

The principal has been very dodgy on the topic. At the countywide meeting they said no way, but at the school visits she said she might do it.

If you're trying to transfer in from one of the team schools, you won't be admitted. They're full.

General Application Process
Students who have already been selected do not need to reapply in the following years.


The transfer application process takes place between the SB adopted timeframe (February 1 to April 15) for the following school year.
To apply for a transfer, parents/guardians must complete a Pupil Transfer Application.
Attend a school information session at both your neighborhood elementary school, as well as a school information session at the school(s) you would like to apply to.
Turn in the completed Pupil Transfer Application form at the school(s) to which you are requesting a transfer, no later
than close of business—4 p.m.— April 15, 2013.
If the transfer is approved, you will be notified by mail. The school system does not provide school bus transportation for students who transfer to a neighborhood school.


Siblings of older students who will be concurrently attending a school are given preference.

A Random Lottery is held whenever there are more applications than available slots. A lottery is always held for slots at Arlington Traditional School. After the lottery takes place, usually the week after the closing of the application deadline, those randomly selected will be notified by mail.

Students who applied but were not selected will be placed in numerical order on the waiting list. Applications received after the application deadline will be placed at the bottom of the existing waiting list. When there is a space opening, the next person in the waiting list will be contacted and given an opportunity to register.
