I like the idea of investing in companies that produce locally with local labor, and share the profits with their employees.

Alternatively there are Vice funds that invest maining in everything bad - Tobacco, defense, gambling etc.

Thanks. I'd rather make a little less money and know that I'm not funding companies that I don't agree in. I'm obviously not the most savvy investor but its an important principle for me. There is surprisingly not a lot of common sense info out there. I've been reading a bunch but I would love a financial advisor who would work with me and explain things the way you would to a toddler. That is about the level of my financial knowledge.

You are better off keep your money in CD than invest in socially responsible companies. Socially responsible funds sounds good, but may not make any money for you.

We have very little investment and have money in our savings account that I would like to partially invest. I've been googling and researching online but I am really clueless. It is important to me that our money does not fund certain companies like weapons manufacturers and private prison companies. Does anyone know someone in DC who works on this issue? It seems complex, especially to a lay person like myself. Thanks!
