For as hellish as IVF can be while you are going through it (and, like me, failing every cycle) it is inspiring -- mindblowing actually -- to step back and think about how lucky we all are that this technology even exists, thanks to the pioneering work of Dr. Robert Edwards. He passed away yesterday. Seeing this article in NPR made me pause for a moment and really appreciate the marvels of modern medicine. Pretty incredible. Hopefully my IVFs will lead to success one day. Regardless, I'm just so deeply grateful to Dr. Edwards and the other innovators in this industry for giving me and so many others the possibility.
