Oh please. 1 in 50 kids do NOT have autism. We are just diagnosing more kids because now any old nerd has ASD. That is the ONLY reason the numbers are going up.

Enough of this nonsense of eating organic food to avoid neurotoxic pesticides. My kid lives on hotdogs, kraft mac n cheese and poptarts with the occasional plain old non-organic applesauce and she's fine;therefore every kid is just fine eating this stuff.

If I hear " My DH, DB, etc. relative would be on the spectrum if they were a kid today". And then there is " I am sure he will be fine by the time he is 5". I know people mean well,but what means the most to me is the folks who schedule play dates with us and understand when DS has a bad day.

Well, unless there is something really big going on - the level of diagnoses and medication is stunning SOMEONE is misdiagnosed out there. A matter of mathematics. I just don't buy it with these stunning statistics.

Maybe you should enroll him in some sports?

(my son has a neurological genetic thingy that results in all manner of hypontonia and motor planning problems. He will NEVER outgrow it and "being active" doesn't help correct anything. You just start over at square one the next day).

I cannot tell you how many times I've heard this ^ in the past 10 years.

It's even worse when you get that question from a PEDIATRICIAN.

We had a teacher with "20 years of experience" say to us that there was nothing wrong with our ASD DS, that he was just spoiled. We filed a formal complain with the principal and had our DS transferred from her class.

DS has an ASD. For real.

OP here...I got and get that one often. My neighbor even told me that as a mom of 5 kids she has seen it all and my kid is fine. We see top doctors, but apparently having 5 kids makes you have more knowledge than an expert on ASD. We know and accept our child has an ASD. I don't waste my time trying to convince people anymore. I just say we listen to and agree with the people with medical training in this area.

Recently I got...

*My child says your child doesn't have any friends and she is the only person who is nice to him. I refrained from saying. Really? My child says your child cannot get along with anyone and she frequently sulks. Why didn't I share that with this parent I barely know? Well because IMO it's rude. Our kids are at an age where you can't trust that stories are accurate. These issues are between the family and the teacher. All, I said is we know our child has some differences, but given that he has been invited on playdates with some really nice kids and the teacher reports he is getting along well, it seems this sweet group of kids works to accept him for who he is.

What did I want to say? Back off Bitch and worry about your own kid.
