I find it impossible to get into the Connecticut & Porter one. Went once at SUnday at around 2:00 pm or maybe 3:00 pm and they said they were booked and turned us away. If you call in the morning for an appointment they won't see you until late afternoon. We prefer FastTrack at Kensington, but that is not by a metro. I have also heard good things about the Van Ness Walgreens clinic.

Hey OP, the Minute Clinic was following the normal guidelines. 99% of the time your sore throat is not strep -- even if you think you get it all the time.

Maybe we read the OP's post differently. I read it as saying that they wouldn't or couldn't do a simple strep test (I don't know what costly tests she was referring to since strep tests are cheap) and told her to go to urgent care or see her regular doctor. A Minute Clinic should be able to do a simple (and cheap) strep test to see if antibiotics were necessary and then write her a prescription for it.

The Walgreens on Connecticut at Van Ness has a take care clinic. It is really great.

I have gone to the Minute Clinic on Capitol Hill a number of times and always had good, quick care. I was able to get a scrip for antibiotics for an ear infection with no problem. I have also used them in NY state without a problem. You should complain to the company because that is not the normal standard of care.

I just got back from Florida and went to a Minute Clinic with ds. They did a 5min rapid strep test. It was positive and we left with antibiotics.

OP--did he do a rapid strep test? If so, was it positive?

Minute clinic at Tenley is really bad. There is a metro stop right there so many people go there.

Go to Pallisades or the one at WI and Bradley

I think that's a standard wait for a place like this.

Also the standards for prescribing antibiotics have changed. You can't just demand one, a test has to warrant it via an infection or bacterial bug.

If you think you have a bacterial issue or infection, go to ER, get another opinion, and appeal the minute clinic charges saying they were wrong.

Went to a Minute Clinic and they also would not give me a script for antibiotics. Wasted $ and time there, paid more money to see a doc at an urgent care place and got the script. Later was able to see my doc. They wasted my time and money. I keep getting emails from them but there is no way in hell I will ever go back there again.

Go to the ER if it is that bad.

ugh. Just don't even waste your time at this place. I went there this morning at 10:15 and didn't get in to see the nurse until 11:30. After waiting well over an hour the person was rude and incompetent. He insisted on giving me several (costly) tests and then wouldn't give me an antibiotic. I get strep all the time. I explained this to him and he would not give me a z-pack. He repeatedly told me to see my male doctor tomorrow (yeah, I would go see HER but it's sunday and I want to get some medicine TODAY!!) I'm sick, I feel rotten and I'm beyond angry right now.
