PPs, get off your western high horses, please. piercing ears is considered a custom in many cultures.

- mom of two girls who comes from such a culture, yet chose not to pierce my daughters' ears.

I realize there are some cultures that pierce the ears, but they're most likely not coming onto public forms to ask when to do it.

Seriously, don't put holes in your perfect child until she asks for them.

My mom had mine done before I was 5. So glad she did, I don't remember it and she was able to keep it properly cleaned.

Are you for real? It's her body; wait till she is old enough to make decisions for herself and asks to have it done, if that is what she desires. Would you get her a tattoo now? If not, then wait on the ears.

Never mind that it's trashy, never mind the infection risk, risk of injury when she or another child accidentally rips an earring from her tiny little ear. Just don't go there.

Most people who pierce their baby's ears have it done before six months.

The other obvious answer is that the minimum age is when she asks you.

My daughter is 7 months old. Is it too early to have her ears pierced? Is there a recommended minimum age for ear piercing?
