Costco. Not Meadows Farms or Merrifield, though Meadows Farms is cheaper than Merrifield.

Meadow Farms in Annandale was selling bushes that cost literally 50% less than the same thing at Merrifield. That said, Merrifield is more knowledgeable and I think more likely to be quality. Which bugs me because I hate Merrifield and think it is overpriced.

You can also email your local neighborhood list serv - some plants need to be divided and people will give them away for free. Hostas, shasta dasies, sedum, black eyed susans, some kids of day lilies, are usually pretty easy to come by.

Walmarts with garden centers have the best prices, but you have to choose your plants carefully.
Home Depot would be a second choice.

watch out with raspberries -- we planted one bush and it's now taken over the full area! I even dug out the main roots one year, it came back!

Costco has good prices but I was there this eve and they didn't have much in stock yet. Maybe by tomorrow there will be more. They just had some leylands, trees and some small bushes

Behnke's has a weekly ad with great prices. Im headed there tomorrow to pick up a dwarf raspberry bush. It's kid friendly- no thorns! The ornamental cherry blossoms are on sale too. If I had more yard, I'd buy two.

Aspen Hill Home Depot usually has a good selection. If you're in the district might try the RI Ave. Home Depot before you go all the way out there.

Home Depot is probably your cheapest.
I like Betty's Azalea Ranch, in Fairfax, VA they have good prices, but it is hard to compete with a big box store if you just want the usual stuff.

Hoping to get some small shrubs, grasses, and vinca for cheaper. live in DC but willing to travel. Want to buy in volume--my yard is large and empty and my budget is small.
