Presumably the cat would move if the kid rolled over, but this would worry me, too. What if she did roll over and have her head buried in the cat's belly and the cat didn't move? If the baby is much larger than the cat, I might not worry about it, and in a few months, I'd probably be taking pictures.

I can see a child old enough to be in a bed sleeping with a pet, but not while theyre still young enough to be a crib.

I think this is so adorable (cat lover here). So yes, I would allow it. But PP's idea of removing the cat once your baby is asleep makes a lot of sense to me.

My cat insisted on snuggling while baby nursed. I couldn't keep her away unless she was physically removed from room and locked out. I thought it was a milk thing, but, like your situation, cat just loves the kid. Feeling is mutual, now 3 years later cat is still in the bed an sleeps between her legs. Cat with bite and scratch anyone, except kid. No issues.

Don't you watch the Footballer's Wives?

Could you wait in the room until she's asleep and then remove the cat? I know what it's like to desperately want your child to sleep.

I'm not really worried about him "stealing her breath" and he's not heavy enough to crush her or anything... I'm on the fence I guess. If he didn't put her to sleep so soundly I wouldn't even be asking.

Oh wow. I have 2 cats and I'm not sure I would be comfortable with that. I don't believe all those old wives tales about cats smothering babies but it seems a little dicey.

My 7 month old LOVES our cat and will only nap if he is snuggling with her. She fusses if I put her down by herself, but the moment the cat jumps into the crib, all is well. Would you tolerate this? She has good head control at this point and weighs more than twice as much as the cat does. No allergies as far as I can tell. He doesn't sleep on her face but around her head with his paws on her forehead. He always wants to be around when it's naptime too, so it's like he wants to help. Is this ok?
