Couple of ideas...

Google "Master Gardener" and your location--VA, MD, DC. There is free information and people to talk to at plant clinics if you need guidance.

Also, there is a handy 1 page pdf that for some reason isn't on the web, but it's called "The Gardener's Guide What to do When" If you call the MG office, they should be able to send you a copy. The Frederick office produced it:

Washington Gardener Magazine has some good tips:

Tell me a great gardening book for beginners, please. I am not from this area and need a basic intro to gardening (including plants, pruning, etc). I have a horrible track record with house plants, fwiw. TIA!
