I thought st Anns was in Arlington

Go to an Open House or take a tour and ask the principal directly if you can see the scores. I have found that schools will oblige especially if the scores are good! Others will merely say scores are good with no evidence to back it up making it hard to assess...

The Great Schools reviews all reference good test scores and academics. How can prospective parents assess these for parish schools that do not publish this data?

I don't know about St. Ann's but know first hand the decline of Annunciation. A lot of families have left as well as faculty. And, the last principal ran a lot of families away with his lack of administrator experience and non responsiveness to parent concerns. I have not heard similar complaints about St. Ann's.

My kids have been here for several years and love it! We stayed through the changes in administration and leadership and are glad we did. The current school administration has made positive changes that are bearing fruit. Test scores are impressive, discipline is working, kids are challenged in the STEM subjects and the extracurriculars round out the learning experience. Kudos to the dedicated teachers for their hard work and effort, and kudos to the parent community who continue to support the school. St. Ann's has emerged from its transition as a city school, with children from all four quadrants of the city, Maryland and Virginia enrolled. In addition we have a growing international population of children from the embassies. Transitions can be difficult, and there is still work to be done. But, I give a high-five to any school that can grow better and stronger through a challenging transition, and St. Ann's Academy has done that.

Read the most recent threads on Annunciation and you will see why. Sounds similar to the previous poster's reasons cited for departing St. Ann's families. Annunciation and St. Ann's seem to have been on the decline for several years now.

It used to be a great school. Then the principal, Mrs. Kelly, was fired by the current Monsignor and the school has been on a steady decline since 2009. At the end of last school year over 50 families left, including the current and incoming Home and School presidents. The families did not leave willingly; they went to the Archdioces to ask for an intervention but they backed the principal. It's a shame; the school has much potential.

Huge exodus recently. Parish families leaving.

Whatever you do don't go to Annunciation.

Its been in danger of closing. Enrollment has been declining.

Are you talking of the one in Tenleytown ?
My son is in preK and he loves it.

Does anyone have any recent views on the school? Thanks
