Bring extra diapers. The change in air pressure has a profound impact on my child's peeing and pooping.

It sounds like she's doing this solo? I would not even try it with a 21-month old, unless you have the most calm child known to man. Even with DH and me, which gave us another seat to play with, we could not stop our then 17-month old from getting his feet on the woman next to us (luckily we had the bulkhead). He was big, and squirmy, and hard to keep in our "space." We bought a return ticket for him on the flight back.

Get on and hope for the best, is all I can say. I'm not even sure where you are going to have room to set up snacks, ipod, etc. if the flight is full and there are two people right next to you -- there's not going to be room for the tray if your 2-year-old is in your lap, and it's going to be hard to get to your bags.

OP, we flew with out son on my lap at 23 months, flight was 4 hrs and it was no big deal. he watched some vidoes, slept and ate snacks. i doubt people around us even noticed he was there. Enjoy your last free flight

While I completely disagree with this person's post, it did remind me to advise you to pay the extra $20 for the more legroom seats. So worth it just to have those extra few inches when you ave a lap child. You can also check online to see what seats are available to see if there are two empty seats beside each other - this is often available for the extra legroom seats. So, when I call for the upgrade I ask for a specific seat knowing there is another empty beside it. Best one is row1 because there is more for DC to see. Good luck!

I'd happily sit next to you. Toddlers are fun and interesting little monkey-people. Don't mind whining or crying, either. I have two kids, I get it. I'd help you out.

Anyway, what 14:37 said. Avoid touch-sensitive computers, as toddlers don't get that they shouldn't touch pretty things. Something you can turn on that stays on (and kid-friendly headphones) will make your trip SO much easier!

I agree, they are not babies at that age.

Honestly, I think you and those next to you will be miserable on that flight.

I fly with my children (twins and a single). We sort of bit the bullet at 15 months with the twins and opted for their own seats. They were at an age that they would have gone crazy if forced to sit on my lap. Flights are so crowded too that if the flight is longer than 90 minutes you are going to have kicking, squealing, and squirming.

Even with their own seats toddlers move around a lot but at least there is now room for them to move.

So we fly with them next week and the twins will have their own seats and the newborn will be in a a lap.

Parents if your kid can walk they should have their own seat.

Just flew jet blue for Easter with my2 year old. Yes, they have tv, but my DD doesn't watch the Cartoon Network or nick, so she didn't get the shows (too old for her) and she lost interest fast. If you have an iPad or similar bring it full charged. I also put crayons in a Baggie and bring a small notebook so we can color or practice letters. I also pack a few smaller books to read with her.

Lap is hard at that age if DC is wiggly -- you should probably apologize in advance to anyone sitting in front of you, because almost inevitably there will be lots of kicking the seat, puttling the tray up and down a million times, pulling up on the headrest to stand on your lap, etc. I'd say try for a window seat because it's easier to confine DC(on the aisle s/he'll see people walking and want to walk too). Since you're on Jet Blue you may not need the ipad (because every seat has a TV), but of course it can't hurt.

Your child will be more comfortable in his airplane seat with the carseat.

Flying non stop to fl on JetBlue with lap infant who is 21 mos. any tips suggestions or anything that would help make this as smooth as possible? Carseat baggage will be cheçked curbside, stroller to gate. Any tips about airline itself? I'm sure it will be fine but any tips would be appreciated.
