When ever I am looking for ideas I check out Kid Friendly DC. If the weather is nice on Monday, check out this list of local spots and pack a picnic lunch.

Older kid's school is closed next Monday. Given that we've just come off spring break, I think my beloved children and I have had just about enough of leisurely, unstructured lounging -- I need a cool itinerary for this day off or we're all going to kill each other. They like hiking, music, animals, things that explode, things that go fast, things that go fast AND explode, and history. I'm willing to drive up to two hours each way. FYI, we've recently visited Williamsburg, Ft. McHenry, Harper's Ferry, a handful of DC hiking trails, and some local Civil War sites.
