Subject: Hosting a fifth birthday party on a Thursday night, elaborate party.
I would go..don't have a lot going on. Feel free to invite me..I will bring a gift lol!! FWIW..I feel like it would be different to do something on a Thursday night and you might have an easier time getting a sitter. The only problem would be if a lot of friends travel for work...that might affect attendance.

Do most of the potential guests live/work in the city? If they are already close to the party site, it might be pretty convenient. But you would expect them to leave earlier than they would on a Friday or Saturday night.

It really cuts down on the fun if everyone is tired from the work day and has to go to work the next day. And if your friends still have school age children you will probaby lose people who don't want to deal with going out on a school night.
I think I'd rather have fewer people and have fun than a big fancy party that is a midweek chore. But if you are doing it as more of a business event then midweek is fine.

I disagree. I don't see anything wrong with a Thursday night party assuming most of your guests live or work in the city. I wouldn't want to be hauling in from Gaithersburg, though.

My first thought was," that must be a spoiled, self-centered five year old". HAHA.

Yes, find another way to cut costs. Or you'll find a lot of "Regrets" to your invite.

Yes, very inconvenient.
Friday would be better, Saturday would be ideal.
Can you have it catered at your home to trim costs?

Looking to book a reception hall for my husband's 50th birthday. I would like to do it it in the city on a Thursday to cut costs, would that be too inconvenient? Or even a Friday night. Only one couple would be flying in.
