$250 a week?? No way, it should be at least double, if not triple that.

Find a new job. They are screwing you over. At minimum it sounds like you should be getting $500/wk (without doing the actual math) for everything they are asking you to do. If they aren't willing to pay that then you need to turn down the job citing illegal pay as the reason. Do your research to determine what the minimum wage is as well as the laws regarding live-in household employees. All this information should be available somewhere on your state's labor site.

We pay our nanny $3,000 a month.

You figure out if you are getting screwed or not.

They need to determine when exactly they want you on-call, and pay who an hourly rate. They don't care about your bills. Nail down the hours that they want you available to work, and you get paid for that. Good luck.

Run is the right answer, OP. It's not what you wanted to hear, but I'm telling you, get out. Or tell them to pay you 15/hr, when they want you either working OR on call. When you're not getting paid, you need to be sleeping or out of the house. Been there, done that. Learn from my mistakes. They will run you down like a doormat. If you stay, make them pay you weekly. But I hope you get another job ASAP.

Yeah thanks I'm going to sit down with them this week and talk to them I will tell them I cant live on that it would barely pay my bills for my car alone I'm gonna ask for minimum of $500 a week.

The problem seems to be I dont know how many hours it sound like I would be part time until they needed more like when they go out of town. Sadly no this is not April fools joke I just dont know how to go about asking them for more because I already quickly said yes to $250 a week. Someone else made a good point that the rent shouldnt mater because who wants to pay rent and live with there boss they should be pay more for the convenience of having me there 24/7

I am about to start a job as a live-in nanny/housekeeper they say its part time but I also said I would clean the house for more money they added $50 on to it its about an 8 bedroom large living room dinning room and common room lots of large windows. They want me to cook for them do the youngest child's laundry and cleaning and when they need it wake up early make all 4 kids lunch if they need it and get them on the bus. the Youngest one is 9 years old but has a lot of medical and mental health problems she is mentally about 5 years old has special needs is on a lot of medication and gets seizures sometimes. When both parents travel I would do all the house work sometimes they travel twice a month overnight. They also need a sitter for the young one every Saturday for a few hours so the family can go out they also will sometimes need me to pick up the youngest. the 3 older ones are two 14 year olds and one 15 year old. Its also about an hour away from my school where my classes are, they said I could work for other familys but if they want me to cook every night I dont know if I would be able to get much work. They want to pay me $250 a week for this and I live in the basement with my own bathroom.
They had an au pair before.

How much should I really be getting paid? And how do I go about asking them for this?
Thanks
