Some of the elementary schools have Bar-T programs. So if you teach in that school and your kids go to that school, before and after care is simple (albeit expensive)

If your kids go to the same school, they can just hang out in your room before/after school. Theoretically. But there are so many meetings and parent/teacher conferences that there needs to be a back-up plan for those times.

I'm sorry if this is stupid, but how does that solve before and after care problems?

If you have elementary school age children in Montgomery County and are an elementary school teacher, your kids have the option of attending the school you work in. This solves most before and after school care issues. Some teachers who have older kids (in college or out of the house) like to supplement income with teaching summer school or do the extra-curricula things. Some prefer to just get home or enjoy their summers without working. The first 3 years of teaching are killers so I wouldnt recommend taking anything else on.

Are you referring to teachers or central office staff?

How do you handle drop off and pick for your kids? Do you pay for before and after care? Do you feel your hours work for having kids? Do you take off when your kids are sick? (Or does someone else watch your kids for you?) Do you work over the summers or "take them off"? Do you work organizing extra curriculars for extra money or is it too much work for not enough pay?
