Do you think the new apartment and retail building will bring a better vibe to that part of Connecticut?

It's a mix--families and empty-nesters. It's quieter than some other neighborhoods, I guess. But I posted above--plenty of kids, many/most of whom go to Murch, so that helps create community.

Shopping and convenience depends on where you are in Forest Hills; we're close to Conn. Ave., so we're close to restaurants, shopping, buses; it's very walkable. If you're farther east, deeper in Forest Hills, it feels much more removed and surburban.

And thanks for the thoughts -- really appreciate it

Husband of op here ... We currently live in a very kid heavy neighborhood just off mass in md. We are trying to gauge if the general lack of chatter on forest hills about families ... Is it just small a small neighborhood so thus off the radar, or is it generally empty nesters and/or not a lot of fame with younger kids (like ours).

Some of the dcum posts earlier seemed to I indicate it was the latter, bu this may be wrong or outdated.

Also, do you have any thoughts on shopping/convenience?

We just moved here, although we lived very close by before, so we were already part of the community. Sending kids to Murch is a big part of that; it's fun to watch the kids walk up our street to school each day. But there are also lots of older people who've lived in the neighborhood for decades; they've gone out of their way to welcome us. Not sure if there's something more specific you're looking for, but we like it a lot.

Thinking of a move to the neighborhood- is there any sense of community? Previous threads seem to indicate no...
