We went to London and the Cotswolds around week 20 and then to Savannah for a long weekend at week 30. I guess either of those could be considered babymoons. Hamilton Turner Inn in Savannah was perfect for the occasion (and not a small B&B with nothing to do).

We refused to call it a babymoon, but we went hiking in Italy.

I don't particularly care for places where there's nothing to do, so here are places that I enjoy for weekend getaways (we do these a lot!!). Staunton, VA; Charlottesville, VA; Williamsburg, VA; Richmond, VA; Hershey Spa (PA); Berkeley Springs, WV. We've done several weekends in Rehoboth, but I prefer it in the off season, when it's not crowded.

yeah, it really is. But I'm justifying it in that we never had a honeymoon or real vacation with just the two of us ever (including dating). It's always involved friends or visiting relatives.

Annapolis is probably less expensive because there are so many more hotel options. And the USNA is not "in session" so fewer parents coming to town and all that, maybe? There are also good deals in Baltimore (I personally love Baltimore, tons of good restaurants)

i *love* the inn at perry cabin. i had a girls/bachelorette weekend there and recommend doing the whole thing - the spa is awesome, the restaurant is great, and the pool (w/food and drink service) will be great in the summer. you can also walk down to the main strip in St. Michaels - there are a few nice restaurants there, if you want to mix it up, including one fairly inexpensive pizza place. it's a really nice weekend and i'm thinking of it as a late-second-trimester babymoon option myself!

Hi, jindc! This is Poppy from the Oct. thread. We babymooned in the Cayman Islands for our first, so not exactly local.

But, I was thinking of Annapolis, too (as a PP suggested). It's such a pretty town, plenty to see and do, and different enough from DC that you feel like you're getting away. I've not been to St. Michael's but have heard wonderful things. Charlottesville is also pretty, though of course much of the activities around there are wineries, not exactly good for the babymoon. I'm sure you could find plenty else to do, though.

I think your timing is good, too. When we went with our first, I was right at 27 weeks, and it was perfectly comfortable. Well, crazy hot being that it was August, but I didn't feel like a blimp yet. We're planning summer vacations as well--can never be too early with this stuff!

that's two people saying Perry Cabin is as great as the web site looks....that makes me feel good!

we thought about Rehoboth, but it seems like it might be too busy for a get away, but with slightly better stuff to do away from a hotel (food, more shops)

My husband and I did the Inn at Perry Cabin last February after we got engaged. It was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend the entire experience-the spa, the restaurants, the rooms itself were gorgeous.

Annapolis is always beautiful in the spring/summer. You can stay at the Loews or Westin. We have done both. Or a trip to Charlottesville to stay in a B&B?

I am due in early Nov. and we are thinking if a baby moon in June before it gets too got and uncomfortable! Possible charleston, SC! Enjoy!

Yes, we do...except that we both have jobs that require significant advanced notice for putting in for leave (as well as wanting to make sure we budget appropriately).

I guess I could NOT plan and then risk have my leave request not go through. Sounds smart.

We went to a really nice place in PA, I'd have to look up the name and get back to you. It was about a 2 hour drive, we went for a long weekend about 6 weeks before my due date. There was a small town we checked out, they had bonfire one night with s'mores, we did some very light hiking. And there was definitely a TV in the room I also took an hour on our last morning to go get a prenatal massage. It was really nice to just get away and relax!

We're coming (sloooowly!) to the end of the 1st tri, and my husband and I are trying to nail down where we want to babymoon and when. I'm due late October. I figured late July/early Aug would be best in terms of my ability to move around yet still be able to comfortably relax (or am I fooling myself?).

We were considering the Inn at Perry Cabin in St Michaels. Has anyone been? They have a babymoon package and their prenatal massage sounds amazing. Would love to hear if anyone has been there.

If anyone has any local recommendations, I'd appreciate it. We want to make sure we budget in advance. We're willing to go 90 minutes-2 hours away (not including traffic). We never had a honeymoon and haven't really had vacations besides two long weekends (chicago and vegas...we'd go back to vegas in an instant, but being that pregnant on a long flight AND surrounded by all the second hand smoke in vegas sounds horrible unfortunately). Seeing as how we have never really had a vacation together, we're willing to spend a little more than a normal weekend getaway to enjoy our last chance to do this for a while and have a relaxing time. We aren't very romantic, so B&Bs with no TVs and nothing to do besides snuggle aren't our thing.

thanks in advance!
