It's definitely her decision, and I don't think you should be so judgmental. I doubt that she was trying to get pg, and it was an accident. She may be very opposed to abortion. If I were her, I would go through with it as well. Kind of like a miracle baby.

At least she'll have a niece her own age (well, a little older) to play with!

It wouldn't be ideal but if I got pregnant I would have the baby. I personally wouldn't be able to live with myself if I killed my child. Just my personal beliefs.

My grandmother had her last child at that age (49) and it was tough on her. But she managed.

Yes. She had my cousins at 15 and 17 but did not get married to her husband until she was 26. They actually separated for a while since he was living in a big city and she was attending nursing school. She lived with her older sister and mother during this time.

OP here. She is a retired pediatric nurse and is having the child with her husband, who is the father of her older children. She is capable of raising the child financially, however, we think she is too old. You need more than money and a stable home, don't you? I actually thought my cousin was joking when she told me. My aunt and her husband live overseas!

I just found out my aunt is having a baby. My cousin (her daughter) and I are both shocked she wants to go through with it. We are both turning 35 and each have one child. Hers is special needs and while mine was born premature. She is married and I am a single mom. We both feel motherhood is such a challenge (even though we are more inclined to feel this way based on our experiences) however, 50 is simply too old to be starting from scratch. In addition to my cousin, my aunt has a son who is also in his 30's. This is her decision and by no means are we looking to sway her one way or another, it is just that we are really shocked and surprised she is going through with this. If it were you, would you have a child at that age?
