Subject: How do I stop my dog from barking at me
The humping is dominance. You can use a can of pennies and shake it hard when you want the behavior to stop. It will startle her enough to stop it or not begin. I would recommend a trainer. I did Bark Busters and got some great training for my two senior dogs, one that would bark at me for hours! They did say to ignore the dog when they are barking so you need to not engage with them when they start. Of course with training, its up to you to keep it up as these dogs are smart and will go back to their bad habits if you don't stay on top of it.

Put them on vibrate, never shock. Don't give the dog any attention when it starts barking this way. It's hard and it takes an intense block of time over several days--but don't lose your temper--b/c that's a form of attention too.

Ok: you can get a soft muzzle. When she barks, tell her no bark in a firm voice. If she barks again, say no bark and gently put the muzzle on. Leave her run around for about 5-10 min with the muzzle on. Then say ok, let's try again and repeat. It will take a few days and much patience, but you can extinguish the barking.

Ok, so i have an almost 2 year old rescue mutt, about 35 lbs. Got her in September. She's my homegirl, and a total sweetheart, and GREAT with my kids. However,she barks all. the.time. It's not threatening or aggressive barking, it's more like she's a chatty teenager and she is trying to communicate with me. But it's LOUD and SHRILL and scares our guests who don't realize that she's just a talker. She gets plenty of exercise. I have NO idea what she wants from me. Any idea how to curb or address this behavior would be much appreciated! She does it all day long. She also just started humping my leg, not sure if the two behaviors are related. Help! Thanks!
