Green peppers are my enemy - raw or cooked, I'm a fart machine for hours. Beans, too, of course.

My spouse and I just joke about it now, and keep matches handy.

Or artificial sweeteners?

Oh yes, look out for artificial sweetners. Those cause horrible problems for me. I can barely stand to be around myself.

Pp here. Yes you're right of course those have calcium not lactose. I have found that the cabbage and cruciferous veg to be more gas inducing - at least for me.

I don't think broccoli has lactose. Sure you're not thinking of calcium, pp?

WWatch out for inulin--cheap fiber they add to processed food. And try drinking peppermint tea.

Over the counter anti-gas pills help me. They are just charcoal.

DH had to leave the room tonight when we were watching tv. Will my body eventually adjust? Should I buy gas pills? Anything I can do to counteract it?
Thanks.

It's actually quite possible that it's only one specific food that is causing the gas. Are you eating raw vegetables? That's usually the culprit. My advice is to switch to only cooked veggies for one week and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then slowly reintroduce raw veggies (meaning one at a time) to see if maybe it's just one type of raw veggie causing the problem.

If you're eating a lot of salads, it might be just one ingredient, like raw onions, that is causing the problem.
