I’m starting Interval Training (IT) tonight at my local gym. I’m in decent shape, but this will be the start of a new workout routine that I’m implementing. So I’m considering myself a beginner at this to be on the safe side.

I plan on doing IT 3 days/week in two segments (~15 - 20 min in the morning and 15 - 20 min in the evening), as I've read that this method is particularly effective... in addition to weight training exercises. On the Other 3-4 days of the week, I'll just do "regular" workouts at the gym.

But tonight I want to do a full IT session

So I just have a quick question. I often get bored of being on the same machine for extended periods of time. So, with regards to IT, is it okay to use 2 or even 3 different machines during my IT workouts? For example, 10-12 minutes of Interval Training on the elliptical, another 10-12 on the Bike, and another 10-12 on the Stair Climber, for a total of 30-36 minutes; provided I hop from machine to machine so that I keep my HR up, etc. Or will I “lose out” on something, so to speak, by not dedicating a solid 15-40 min or so of interval training on the same machine?


Any and all advice with regards to the above question would be greatly appreciated.

If necessary, I’m a female, 23, ~5’2, and about 135lbs… I’m seeking to lose anywhere from 15-20lbs while toning my entire body, particularly my abs, thighs, and arms. I already eat healthy (vegetarian since birth, lol), and I'm planning on increasing my intake of raw fruits, vegetables, and grain.
