Our budget was about 9,000. We ended up paying 15-16k after getting all the bells and whistles (imported from France).

Had a carpenter rebuild two vintage sleigh beds purchased at a yard sale for $100 each. Carpenter was $1,500. King mattress set was $4,000. Dresser bought from an estate sale was $250. Chest over chest bought at an estate was $1,000 but it has a provenance that was rare. One end table is a chest we bought at a shop that was going out of business for $400. My end table is a raffles butler tray table a roommate gave me years ago in exchange for doing her income taxes. Rug is an Heriz we bought from an estate sale for $1,200. Furniture is either mahogany or cherry except for veneer end table/chest. Floors are heart line. It all works

We spent over $5k, including mattress we purchased over time. Didn't purchase everything at once. We also purchased this over 10 years ago.

about $2500 (without mattress) - bed, 2 dressers and 2 side tables

I spent maybe $2500 on an armoire, $2000 on a bed. They are of the same wood but not part of a "set". Don't remember how much the mattress cost. We have a closet with built in dressers so no separate dressers.

I hate bedroom sets. Usually way too much heavy wood. Definitely mix it up a little.

Came out to a little over $6500 for bed frame, two end tables, and two dressers. Our mattress was about $2600.

$5000, but it had two dressers and an armoire. Six pieces total.

About 2500 without the mattress.

My hubby is about to have a coronary because I want a $5000 set. He thinks $2500 should be the limit. We have the money set aside, so that's not the point. I just wondered if I'm way out of line thinking $5000 is about normal.
