I found almost nothing to bring home from Paris, except food. I did buy Cherry Marnier, which is apparently not sold here, but it is definitely over your weight limit. If you are buying for kids you should get clothes.

Fleur de sel is always a big hit. The little packages can be pretty and special, and it's cheap in any grocery store. This is a commonly available brand: http://www.amazon.com/Le-Saunier-De-Camargue-Fleur/dp/B000EQSAIY
If you have tweens on the list, I always loved receiving everyday school supplies from other countries. Their paper is lined all weird! Their pens are always double-ended! They actually use pencil cases!
Finally, I enjoyed buying single pages from old books at the riverside book merchants. Most street markets have at least one book and document vendor, and most of them sell single illustrated pages. I got a set of botanical illustrations for my mom-- they didn't look like much at the time, but she had them matted and framed, and they look now like a much bigger deal than they really were!

cheese will get confiscated by customs. buy lavender and when you get home make sachets. Also, go to a big grocery store, go to the spice aisle and buy French seasalts and other french spices and herbs. That is what I've done each time I've gone and they are always hit.

Love my print from the Musee d'Orsay Millet/Van Gogh exhibit. I had it framed when someone brought it back for me years ago and still love it. Also love the prints from Wet Wille's Wine Bar. You might find an up and coming artist with some hand pulled lithographs that your family and friends will treasure.

Go to the Bon marche. They have tons of small packages of lovely French candy that far exceed anything here. These are frequent gifts we give and always a big hit.
