I have heard of a number of people leaving McLean Montessori. Not sure why it was not a good fit for them.

OP, Montessori School of McLean keeps morning school hours and has an arrangement of extended care with the Chesterbrook United Methodist Church in their same building.

The Montessori School of McLean at Kirby and Old Dominion is accredited by the American Montessori Society. It's been around for 40 years and goes through sixth grade.

I would say the AMI montessori schools - Montessori school of Oakton, Montessori School of Chantilly, Montessori School of South Riding.

Springfield, Annandale, Falls Church, Mclean, Arlington and Alexandria (the part west of 395) are all doable since along commute. Also will likely be moving between those areas but don't want to wait too long to choose due to potential wait lists. Thank you

They aren't really rated that way - NOVA is such a commuter area that most people will know the "best" one in their area, but not the entire NOVA area. For example, people in Arlington aren't going to be driving to Ashburn to drop their kids off at a #1 school.

Knowing you are looking within the beltway helps, but can you narrow it down a bit further? How about which neighborhoods? Are you talking Falls Church or Alexandria?

Would you go to Ashburn if you lived in Alexandria? Narrow down your area and then your question is perhaps relevant. Unless you are planning to move and your move depends on the best Montessori school. That would be weird but in uber-competitive NoVA perhaps quite ok
