SAIS was one of the least quantitative international relations programs out there, at least a few years ago. They did have exchanges (semester away) with more quantitative programs in other cities. For example they had an exchange with my business school, although I don't know if the exchange still continues. I don't think this would fit your math needs, though.

AU Alum. I'd pick Georgetown. However, I've actually never met anyone who enjoyed their time there. The name does carry more weight though. Hate to say it.

When I went to Georgetown, I remember math being their weakest department. Maybe things have changed since then.

Ah is a great school and I went there and did learn a lot from some great professors. However, IMHO, it is very much a political science trade school. If u are studying anything that is not political, international service type in nature, you are a real minority on campus. This makes using the library and resources very difficult... I would wind up using catholic or gw library a lot for my work.

All I can say, op, is that I graduated from GU 16 years ago. Of the 1500 undergrads in my class, there were exactly 3 math majors.

Things may have changed, but if they haven't, I'd go with GW.

Based merely on national name recognition, I'd say Georgetown. Signed, a GWU alum. Is there a ranking of schools for your area of study?

UMD doesn't offer evening classes and JH doesn't have a campus in DC (unless, I am wrong). Anyway, it is too late now, and I have to choose out of the three.

I plan to stay in the DC area, and I believe that all three are well-known.

GW's program is the oldest (>80 years old), Georgetown's is only 7 years old.

Why didn't you apply to UMD or Johns Hopkins? Think they have much stronger math programs. Anyway, choose the one with the highest rated program and the one whose name carries nationwide. Maybe this is Georgetown?

Hello, everyone!

I got admitted to Georgetown, GW, and American University for a math-related MS. Georgetown is about $300 more per credit, which will make it 10K more for the program. Is it worth it? I will be doing it part-time (working full-time) and paying out of pocket. All three have great programs and good professors.

Which college would you choose? Do you have any advice? I am torn!
