+1 We broke a blender and two immersion blenders with daily smoothies until this sucker came along.

Vitamix. I make whole meals in that thing. Most used appliance I have ever had. More used than my toaster.

a regular blender is OK for smoothies, right? I've been thinking of trying to make some, but I don't want a new appliance.

Love my cuisanart smoothie maker. Comes with 4 portable cups. Easy to clean and great price at BBB with coupon.

Breville (just juicer). I don't remember th model number but it was around $150 from bed bath and beyond. It has a separate area for the pulp making it easy to clean. It's worked very well for me, though I've only had it three months
