Yes, since the rental car lots typically have gates to get in/out.

Its for a gate, either in a gated community, parking garage/lot, etc. It could be residential or employment related.

People who frequently traveled through INS checkpoints along I-5 & I-15 in CA used to have them as a way to bypass the wait, but this was late 90s. Around here, I suspect rental cars.

do they still do that on the bridges across the susquehanna? They had them YEARS ago when my parents used to live up that way, but I thought they'd done away with those tags more than a decade ago.

I had one on my car window, but that was in the 1990s.

I have one on the back window but that is my company barcode. We are located in busy place and they don't want outsiders to park on the company premises. So they barcode all the employee cars.

It's a rental car. When you pick it up or drop it off, they scan that to know which car it is.

I recently picked up a rental from Enterprise that had a barcode on the back passenger side window.

It may also be a QR code that links to a company website for marketing/advertising purposes.

My in-laws have this (they live in Florida). It is for access to a gated community. I suspect here it may be the same or access to a security gate at a place of employment.

I have noticed this, too. Usually in Maryland, close to Baltimore.

I am constantly seeing cars with large bar code stickers on their back passenger side window. Why? Is it an access code?
