we use the doggie waste bags and throw them in our own cans outside or in the city cans (we live in the district). it's only a problem when they break open. some more eco-friendly owners i know scoop and flush the poo or have invested in those doggie septic tanks. WAY too much trouble for me.

Move to a red state. You don't have to pick it up in a red state.

You get 2 newspapers delivered every day?

I've been putting it in plastic bags, but lately have been wondering how long it must take to break down in a landfill. Whereas if I just picked it up with toilet paper and threw it away, it would break down almost immediately. I keep going back and forth with myself...

I used to have a small metal can with a lid outside and double lined it with kitchen trash bags. Use a designated shovel and scoop it up and dump it in the can. I would rather shovel than bag each poop. Lime cuts down on smell.

I pick it up with the doggie poop bags, and throw it in my regular trash inside the house.
It does reek in the summer if you put it in the outside can. Also, if a bag splits open, it's a huge mess!

Each time the dog poops, we pick it up in a ziplock bag, zip it shut, and put it in the step-can. Each time we take the kitchen trash out (3-4 times per week), we tie up the plastic poop bag and stick it in the kitchen trash bag, tie that up, then put it in the large outdoor can until trash day.

Sometimes when it's 100 degrees out, you might catch a whiff of the step-can since it's by the deck. So if we're having a cookout or party, we might move it to a more remote location. But we've never had a problem with flies.

Also I can't imagine having this by the deck! Yuck.

You can throw it in your neighbor's trash cans in front of their house like I watch all my neighbors do ( to my cans)

Just keep doing what you are doing, you'll be fine. I notice smelly old food smell in my trash cans more than dog poop smell.

trash can in plastic bags.

we also use arm and hammer cat box deodorizer and sprinkler it in our trash can if it is stinky. it only gets bad when people clean up the yard and do not bag it….

New poster. They do make flushable dog poop bags. I tried to get some feedback on them a couple weeks ago but didn't hear from anyone who has actually used them.
